Green Extraction™ Technology

What is Green Extraction?

It is a special herbal extraction method developed in Scandinavia during the seventies with the unique characteristics of bee propolis in mind. It uses purified water in a process called "Decotum".

Why was Green Extraction developed?

Because up to the date it was developed and started being used, bee propolis extraction was only viable through chemical solvents such as ethanol, propylene glycol, or CO2 among others. Dr. Sven Salomon wanted to have bee propolis products that were pure, without even traces of these solvents that can be problematic to many customers of natural products.

What are some of the problems people have with these other chemical based extractions?

Ethanol or Alcohol is a problem for infants, children and seniors. It can also be a problem to some people due to religious reasons. Propylene Glycol is a chemical used in many different industries and generally not well accepted in the natural products industry. Here is its definition: "Propylene Glycol is a synthetic organic compound with the chemical formula C3H8O2. It is a viscous colorless liquid which is nearly odorless but possesses a faintly sweet taste. It is produced on a large scale and is primarily used in the production of polymers, but also sees use in food processing, and as a process fluid in low temperature heat exchange applications. Propylene glycol is often used in electronic cigarettes to improve flavour and create a better throat hit." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propylene_glycol)

Why is Green Extraction so special?

Because it was developed with the chemical composition of bee propolis in mind. Bee propolis is made by the honeybees in the wild and contains large percentages of beeswax and some impurities which have no health benefits for us. Traditional chemical extractions are efficient in extracting the good compounds in propolis but also extract these non-desirable substances. Therefore, final products often disappoint in quality. During NaturaNectar's Green Extraction process, the beeswax and impurities of bee propolis are separated and eliminated, increasing the potency and quality of the final extracts FLAV and PWE, and decreasing their propensity to cause allergic reactions.

I have heard that water based extraction methods result in low potency extracts. Is Green Extraction Different?

Yes! Green Extraction trade-secret technology allows for final extracts to have yields of flavonoids and organic aromatic acids (the good stuff in propolis for our health) that are nearly at the same levels of the chemical based extractions, however with the benefit of been harsh-chemical free and good for all ages. Other water based extractions cannot come even close to the Green Extraction yields.
